The Fluffy Bird series began at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, NM from the desire to leave white space around the main image in my piece. After taking many hikes over the beautiful Ghost Ranch property, I came back to the studio and only wanted to use large brushes. Letting the paint drip suggested skinny legs and led me to think of these creatures as fluffy birds. The joyful colors and juxtaposition of the skinny legs with the soft round bodies makes me smile each time I look at them.
