Textured substrate, acrylic paint, shells from Sanibel Island
My visit to Sanibel Island off the coast of Fort Meyers, FL inspired this painting. I was there with dear friends and their families, staying right on the ocean. Every morning, with a cup of coffee in hand, we combed the beach for beautiful sea shells. These nine shells found in the center of the piece reminded me of the individuals who shared that special time together. hONKy tONK encompasses the energy of the hot sun during the day and the beautiful sunsets as the evenings came. This painting reminds me of the love, joy, and togetherness of that time with friends.
